A former Vice-President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has formally declared his intention to contest the 2015 Presidential election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.

Abubakar, at a ceremony held at the Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja on Wednesday, explained that  his desire to become President was born out of the need to give back to the nation.

Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha and the Publisher of Leadership, Sam Nda-Isaiah, had also declared interest in the APC presidential ticket. A former Head of State and National Leader of the APC, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, and Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso, have been reported  to also have interest in the ticket

The family of a 28-year-old woman, Vivian Ndukwu, has demanded that the marriage rites of their late daughter must be performed by a pastor of the Christ Embassy, who has been accused of being responsible for the pregnancy that allegedly led to her death.

According to media reports, Ronaldo did not show any limitations during the first 15 minutes of the session which were open to the media.
The World Player of the Year missed the recent friendlies against Greece and Mexico. Ronaldo, 29, struggled with minor injuries during the closing weeks of Real Madrid's season before playing 120 minutes in the Champions League final against Atletico Madrid and scoring the final goal in their 4-1 win, with a penalty.

Portugal, who are training just outside New York, face Germany in their opening World Cup match on june 16.
They also face United States and Ghana in their group. Meireles has a problem in his left thigh and Pee a muscular injury in his right leg.

Sports: Costa passes Chelsea medical

      

Reports emanating from England claim that Spanish striker Diego Costa has passed a medical ahead of his move to Chelsea.

The Brazilian-born striker had a £32-million buy-out clause in his Atletico Madrid contract which the Blues have triggered.

Costa was one of the stars as Atletico clinched the 2013/14 La Liga title, scoring 36 goals in all matches.

Superstar singer RO Kelly used to be married to VH1′s “Hollywood Exes” actress Andrea Kelly and together they have 3 kids - Robert Kelly Jr., Joann Kelly, and Jaya Kelly. Well, their youngest daughter Jaya Kelly who is about fourteen has decided that she would rather be a boy than girl.

Woman Posts Graphic Photos of Bruised Face by Abusive Boyfriend

A Tennessee woman has posted graphic photos of her battered face online in an effort to spread awareness about domestic violence. Angela Brower, 37, said she recently broke up with her boyfriend of six months after he became verbally and physically abusive towards her. 

On May 18, he came over to retrieve his belongings, he attacked me, punched me in the face so hard that I was knocked out. The orbital bone around my eye was completely shattered and my nose was broken on both sides and very displaced, Brower said.

She also noted that she regained consciousness only to find him beating her in the back of the head and pleaded with him to spare her life for her children. He stopped and that was when I found chance to escape, she said.

After being released from the hospital, she took to Facebook to share photos of her battered face. She captioned it ” Does this look like LOVE TO ANYONE OF YOU?”

Suspected Kidnapper Lynched at Owede Onirin Lagos

This morning, Monday 2nd June, a kidnapper was captured at Owode Onirin in Lagos. He was caught with an 11 year old girl(pictured below). 

When questioned,the girl said she was going on an errand on her street in Ogba when the man walked up to her and grabbed her hand.She tried to resist then he rubbed his palm over her face and she lost all sense of coordination and followed him.

The mob beat the kidnapper to a pulp and a teenage boy in the crowd doused him in petrol and set him on fire.

Chris Brown 'released from jail'

The 25-year-old singer was placed behind bars in March after breaking the rules of the rehab facility he was in. 

Now TMZ is reporting Chris was let out around midnight, meaning he served 108 days.

The star was sentenced to a year in prison initially, but got credit for 116 days in rehab and 59 spent behind bars.

Bride Drags Baby Down The Aisle On Her Wedding Dress Train

A Tennessee bride, Shona Carter-Brooks has been attacked online after photos of her young baby strapped to her wedding gown went viral. Shona really, really wanted to get her baby involved in her wedding, so much so, in fact, that she tied the one-month-old baby Aubrey to her wedding train and dragged her as she walked down the aisle.

Shona Carter-Brooks said on Facebook that Aubrey was "awake and well-secured" and "covered in Christ." However, commenters were outraged to see the picture of the baby on the train of her 
mother's wedding dress and demanded she be reported to child protection services. Others said that what Cater-Brooks did was child abuse.

Missing Nigerian graduate Uyo Ukonne Body found in NJ river

Uyo Ukonne pictured above graduated from New Jersey City University on May 15th and then went rafting with friends a week later, only to drown in the Delaware River. 

After searching for his body for many days, his body was finally found yesterday in the Delaware River around 5.45pm. Joe Hinkes, chief ranger of the Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River, told said his body was found 5 miles downstream from where he was last seen Sunday afternoon

His death has been ruled accidental drowning. He drowned after jumping into the river without a life jacket while on a rafting trip near Lumberland, N.Y. with friends.

Germany without Neuer, Lahm for Cameroon friendly

Germany’s World Cup squad jetted to Moenchengladbach for Sunday’s friendly against Cameroon without captain Philipp Lahm and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, who flew to Munich for treatment.

Joachim Loew’s squad concluded their 10-day pre-World Cup training camp in south Tiro and flew back to Germany, for their penultimate friendly before Brazil 2014, minus Lahm and Neuer. The Bayern Munich stars will continue to be treated in the Bavarian capital by the German Football Association’s (DFB) medical staff in their bid to be fit for Brazil.

Police arrest twins for robbery

A set of twins, Taiye and Kehinde Balogun, (pictured above) have been arrested by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Lagos for robbing a factory belonging to Reckitt Benckiser, Punch reports.

Police authorities said the brothers, who were welders, were hired by a robbery gang to break into the company's warehouse in May last year. The robbery gang robbed the company of soap, noodles and chemicals worth N17million. 

They were arrested, after much investigation, in February 2014. How sad for their parents. Continue.

After their arrest, the 27 year old twins claimed that they were not aware that they were being hired for a robbery operation.

Kehinde said;

“Around May last year, we were called by one guy known as Yankee who lives near our workshop in Agbara. He took us to meet one Deji. Deji claimed to be a storekeeper at the factory, saying he had misplaced his key. He took us to the warehouse and said we should break the locks open. After breaking the locks, they told us to help them load the chemicals into some trucks. They said they were under instructions to transfer the cartons to another warehouse. After helping them load the goods, we were given N10,000 each.”

But the police do not believe their story. They insist that the twins were aware that it was a robbery operation. Plus other suspects arrested along with the twins said the twins had been informed of the operation beforehand.

President Jonathan picks Zenith Bank MD as new CBN Governor

 

President Jonathan has picked the current Managing Director of Zenith Bank Godwin Emefiele to replace Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the new Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria. His name has been forwarded to the Senate for confirmation.
